Dr Eric Hartelius is a general companion animal practitioner and is the former owner of Rondout Valley Veterinary Associates. He was raised in the Hudson Valley, graduating from Rondout Valley High School in 1978. He earned his veterinary degree from Cornell University in 1986 and founded Rondout Valley Veterinary Associates in 1997, first located in Grahamsville, then in the current Kerhonkson location. He has special training in veterinary acupuncture through IVAS and rehabilitation medicine through the University of Tennessee. He is also a certified Reiki master and has special interests in veterinary behavior and canine reproduction.
Dr Hartelius was an adjunct professor at SUNY Ulster for 10 semesters. He also enjoys hiking, cycling, gardening, and playing the violin. He is also often found at dog shows with one of his champion Welsh Springer Spaniels: Angus, Diana, Keylee, Nova, or Kenzie. His daughter Cheyenne is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University and lives and works in Massachusetts with her partner Dylan.
